Across the African continent, persistent cycles of conflict, economic injustice, and social fragmentation continue to undermine human dignity and regional stability. Despite Africa’s vast potential, millions remain trapped in a state of chronic insecurity, fuelled by historical grievances, weak governance, and the exploitation of natural resources. Within this broader context, the crisis in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) represents one of the most urgent humanitarian emergencies, where communities in North and South Kivu suffer from systemic violence and displacement. Some face a unique struggle characterized by contested citizenship, marginalization, and targeted hostility.

The rationale for this initiative lies in the unique position of the Christian Church as a trusted moral authority with deep communal roots across Africa. Recognizing that current humanitarian responses are often fragmented and address only the symptoms of crisis, this proposal calls for a unified, faith-led Pan-African movement.

The initiative seeks to transition from passive observation to strategic action.

It aims to address the root causes of identity-based violence and economic exclusion, ultimately working toward a future where “swords are beaten into ploughshares” and peace is restored to the most vulnerable regions of the continent.
